I've been using the Deva for almost 4 years and post is finally at the point where they accept DVD's without question. Already you have DVD - R readers who does not read every burned DVD- R. I burned on 3 different burners, and only 2 popped up in the edit, and 2 others popped up at audio post.

I haven't tried to write a CD, but DVD is definilty not possible, because the device is _not_ listed in k3b if started as user. because the dvd writer is on /dev/scd3, this strange device above is on /dev/scd0. But still acording to the settings, this device can burn dvds (Writes-DVD-R(W)s: yes).

I do not use XPs built in burning ability, instead I install Nero or Roxio, besides I don't think XP without additional software can burn DVDs (although it I can install the drive and let XP recognize it, but it thinks it is just a DVD ROM, not a burner. You have a DVD drive which can burn DVD-RW discs, so naturally it can read them too. He has a DVD-ROM drive. It can't burn DVDs. It can probably read DVD-R discs, but it probably can't read DVD-RW discs. That's normal for older DVD drives and players. (Strange that he called it a "DVD-ROM/CDRW" drive.
